Part of a great talk

“A person may profit by noticing the first intimation of the spirit of revelation; for instance, when you feel pure intelligence flowing into you, it may give you sudden strokes of ideas … and thus by learning the Spirit of God and understanding it, you may grow into the principle of revelation, until you become perfect in Christ Jesus.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, comp. Joseph Fielding Smith, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1977, p. 151.)

Such an idea came into my mind and I said to the atheist, “Let me ask if you know what salt tastes like.”
“Of course I do,” was his reply.
“When did you taste salt last?”
“I just had dinner on the plane.”
“You just think you know what salt tastes like,” I said.
He insisted, “I know what salt tastes like as well as I know anything.”
“If I gave you a cup of salt and a cup of sugar and let you taste them both, could you tell the salt from the sugar?”
“Now you are getting juvenile,” was his reply. “Of course I could tell the difference. I know what salt tastes like. It is an everyday experience—I know it as well as I know anything.”
“Then,” I said, “assuming that I have never tasted salt, explain to me just what it tastes like.”
After some thought, he ventured, “Well-I-uh, it is not sweet and it is not sour.”
“You’ve told me what it isn’t, not what it is.”
After several attempts, of course, he could not do it. He could not convey, in words alone, so ordinary an experience as tasting salt. I bore testimony to him once again and said, “I know there is a God. You ridiculed that testimony and said that if I did know, I would be able to tell you exactly how I know. My friend, spiritually speaking, I have tasted salt. I am no more able to convey to you in words how this knowledge has come than you are to tell me what salt tastes like. But I say to you again, there is a God! He does live! And just because you don’t know, don’t try to tell me that I don’t know, for I do!”

Thoughts for today

So today we spoke about the second coming in my religion class! Wow! Amazing! We also discussed a few things about temples. I will try to post some of my notes a little later. I get nervous sometimes that I am going to have such a responsibility teaching my children to be firm followers of their Savior, but I am extremely excited as well! I have a hard time sometimes living with room mates who are amazing and have been through the temple. I know my time will come, but I am very anxious. There is so much to learn! Every new door leads to ten others! The gospel is so exciting! We all get to learn and grow here on earth together as part of a team, working together and serving each other! What a blessing! I know my Savior will come again and that if I am righteous everything will be better than I could ever imagine. I just hope I can help those around me. It would be wonderful if everyone could be included in the righteous at the glorious time of the Savior's Coming! We have a lot of work to do, and I am grateful for the 52,000 missionaries sharing our message of hope. Brother Marsh talked today about how the LDS religion believes in the message of hope for those who have passed on. Not one soul who has lived on this earth or will live on this earth will be denied the opportunity to receive the gospel. What a blessing! I just hope and pray they will receive it with an open heart. It is so true!

Prayer at Gethsemane
by Del Parson
“For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent and come unto him” (D&C 18:11).

I am loved!

Journey’s End
by Derek Hegsted
“Come unto me in my kingdom; and with me ye shall find rest” (3 Ne. 28:3).

I have been thinking a lot lately about my Savior and how He truly understands everything I go through. I always need Him, and He is always there.

Beauty

Things I love to say cause they mean so much to me...

Work like it all depends on you,
Pray like it all depends on the Lord.

Remember who you are and what you stand for.

To be... or not to be... That is the question.
To do... or not to do...
To say... or not to say...

From Brother Marsh's Class today 5/20/09

The Celestial Glory will be the most abundant of the three and all but the Sons of Perdition will inherit a level of heaven/kingdom.
When we are resurrected everything that is our makeup will be restored to us and perfected.
Satan will never have a body, so even the Sons of Perdition will rule over him.
We were challenged to use technology for good and to spread the gospel:)
